The diversity, prestigious education and cosmopolitan cities of Canada attract talented individuals from around the world. It offers a variety of study programs in numerous areas and disciplines. Canada is amongst the most popular study destinations across the globe. Almost every program is conducted in English, which opens gates to a variety of choice for native speakers. No matter where you choose to study, you will easily slip into Canadian life. Canada is a highly developed country that ranks well on human development indexes and the economy is very well stabilized. Canadian society is highly democratic, which welcomes international students regardless of their social background. KGraph immigration consultancy keeps first hand information about the visa procedures and our experienced consultants track down each and every change regarding the same. Canada is a dream for many students across nations, and we are here to make it happen. The details given below are about the student visa requirements and formalities.

Student visa requirements:

You can apply for a student visa in Canada if you meet the following criteria:

To study in Canada, you will need to obtain a Canadian study permit, which serves as a Canadian student visa for the duration of your stay. You do not need to have a Canadian study permit if your course/program lasts six months or less. However, you might want to apply for a study permit anyway. Otherwise, if you decide you want to continue your studies on another program, you will need to leave Canada to apply for a study permit through a visa office. Once you have a Canadian study permit, you can apply to renew it from within Canada, if you decide to continue your studies. For full-time students registered at an accredited higher education institution, a study permit also allows you to work part-time on campus. You may also be able to work off-campus, work as an intern as part of your program; stay in Canada as a permanent resident, or find permanent work after graduation.

Student Direct Stream (SDS):

It is an online application created by IRCC for students in  India, China, Morocco, Pakistan, Senegal, Vietnam and the Philippines  on 8th June 2018. It is to provide more eligible students with the opportunity of studying at a Canadian post-secondary institution and to make the study permit application process smoother and faster.

To be eligible for SDS, you need to:

After you apply:

After you have submitted an online application, IRCC will send you an email to submit fingerprints and photos (biometrics). You have 30 days to do your biometrics. You need to give the biometrics in person. To find the nearest biometrics collection service point, please click the link below:

In some cases, you will be called for an interview or asked to produce additional documents like a police certificate or a medical report, by the IRCC.

When your visa application is approved, you will receive a Port of Entry (POE) Letter of Introduction. Students from countries which require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) or a temporary residence visa will be given these if required. ETA will be linked to your passport and it is important that you travel with the passport you used when you applied for the study permit. ETA will be valid for five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. Keep all the documents like the proof of finances and letter of acceptance handy along with your passport, which you will have to submit at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). CBSA will then grant your Canadian study permit and let you enter Canada.

Processing Time:

In most cases, an application under the SDS category will be processed in 20 days from the biometrics submission date, but it can change due to several factors. Find out more about processing time below:
