Language Tests: Book Your Test

Passing an approved language test is a mandatory requirement for most Canadian immigration pathways, including Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Programs, and citizenship applications. IRCC accepts specific tests for both English and French proficiency. Below are the four officially approved tests with direct links to book your exam.

English Language Tests

IELTS General Training

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world's most widely accepted English language test, accepted by IRCC for all immigration and citizenship applications. For immigration purposes, you must take the IELTS General Training version — not the Academic version. The test is administered in Canada by two official providers: IDP Canada and the British Council.
