The OINP has some streams you may qualify for and uses an expression of interest system to manage its applications for the following streams -

Full time Job Offer must…

PhD Graduate Stream (Non-Express Entry)

The Ph.D. Graduate stream is an opportunity within the OINP that extends a PR pathway to international graduates holding an Ontario Ph.D. degree. This stream offers Ph.D. graduates the chance to apply for Canadian permanent residency and open the doors to live and work in Ontario. For this program, you must register in the OINP’s Expression Of Interest System and receive the invitation and nomination to apply for Permanent Residence. The Ph.D. Graduate stream is for international students who have completed their Ph.D. degree from an eligible university in Ontario and are looking for permanent residency in Canada. This stream does not require any job offer or work experience. The primary aim is to motivate these PhD graduates to establish themselves in Ontario and actively contribute to the province’s economic growth. The advantages of this stream include the opportunity to obtain a provincial nomination, which significantly enhances their chances of receiving permanent residency in Canada.

Human Capital Priority Stream

The Human Capital Priorities Stream is aligned with the Express Entry system–Federal Skilled Workers Program or Canadian Experience Class. Under this stream, Ontario nominates candidates with the qualifications, skills, and work experience required in the regional job market. Selected candidates receive an invitation and gain the opportunity to apply for permanent residency. The Human Capital Priorities Stream is a vital component of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), aligned with the Express Entry system. It enables Ontario to nominate candidates possessing the necessary skills and work background as per the regional job market's demands. Selected candidates receive an invitation and will gain the opportunity to apply for permanent residency.

  • full-time work experience means working in a job with at least 30 hours of paid work in a week that amounts to at least 1,560 hours of paid work in one year
  • part-time equivalent work experience means:
    • working in one job for at least 15 hours per week, for two years that amounts to at least 1,560 hours in that two-year period, or
    • working in more than one job for at least 30 hours per week, for one year, that amounts to at least 1,560 hours of paid work in that one year period
  • if your work experience was obtained in Ontario in an occupation that requires a licence or other authorization, only work experience acquired after becoming qualified to practice that occupation in Ontario will qualify
  • volunteer work and unpaid internships do not count as work experience

The Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream is a provincial immigration pathway within Canada's Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). It is designed to select candidates from the federal Express Entry pool who have experience in skilled trade occupations and are interested in settling in Ontario. To be eligible, candidates must have at least one year of work experience in a skilled trade, meet language requirements, have a job offer in Ontario, and demonstrate their intent to live in the province. This stream allows Ontario to nominate individuals with relevant skills and experience to become permanent residents of the province.

Skilled Trades Stream

Ontario's Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream, a part of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), enables foreign individuals with eligible skilled trade work experience in Ontario to pursue permanent residency. To qualify, you need a valid profile in the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada's (IRCC) Express Entry system and must receive an Ontario Notification of Interest. If nominated, your subsequent step involves applying to the federal government through IRCC, where the ultimate decision on your permanent residency is made.

Eligibility

  • One year of work experience in Ontario Major Groups 72 (excluding occupations under transportation officers), 73, 82, 83, 93 (excluding aircraft assemblers and aircraft assembly inspectors) or Minor Group 6320 (excluding cooks)
  • IELTS - CLB Level 5
  • Proof of settlement funds
  • Legal Status in country of residence (Canada)
  • Intention to settle in Ontario

Job Requirement:

  • your work experience must have been obtained over a period of at least one year
  • work experience totaling 1,560 hours obtained in less than one year period does not qualify
  • if you worked in a compulsory trade, only work experience acquired after becoming qualified to practice that occupation in Ontario will qualify
  • paid work experience gained while studying full time at a post-secondary institution (for example, on a co-op work term) and self-employment are not eligible
  • volunteer work and unpaid internships do not count as work experience

Employment Requirements

  • Have been in active business for at least three years prior to submitting an application
  • Have business premises in Ontario where the applicant will work
  • Have no outstanding orders made against your business under the Ontario Employment Standards Act, 2000 or the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • In addition to the general requirements, your business must meet the relevant revenue requirement for its most recently completed fiscal year (the year used for tax or accounting purposes)
  • Demonstration of reasonable efforts meet for requiting for Canadian Citizen and PR prior to offering a position to applicant.
  • A minimum of $1,000,000 in total gross annual revenue if the applicant will work or report to work at a location in the Greater Toronto Area (City of Toronto, Durham, Halton, York, and Peel regions)
  • A minimum of $500,000 in total gross annual revenue if the applicant will work or report to work at a location outside the Greater Toronto Area

Ontario’s Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream is a provincial immigration pathway within the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
